Integrated Evaluation of Quality of Adhesive–Mechanical Joints

A constituency tree of an integrated quality criterion of adhesive–mechanical joints, the main branches of which are presented by criteria of function and processability and economic criteria, is given. Variation of quality criteria upon replacement of conventional mechanical joints (weld and riveted) by adhesive–mechanical (weld-bonded and glue-riveted) is considered. Classification of the factors affecting failure of adhesive–mechanical joints is given. Possible reasons for failure are shown from the analysis of the failure pattern of adhesive–mechanical joints.
